When working out where to go for our engagement session Taylor and Ben were interested in having our session in their new home. I immediately said yes! It’s not everyday you get to have such a unique and fun shoot.
Taylor and Benjamin have such a fun story because they’ve known each other basically their whole life! Ever since they were children Ben and Taylor grew up in the same church in Taylors, but since Taylor was one year younger they didn’t really get a chance to become close until they began volunteering on the church media team every Sunday morning. Through working together as volunteers, and attending Sunday school together friendship turned into romance and Benjamin invited Taylor on a day trip to Asheville.
Taylor and Benjamin describes how that trip to Asheville led to the coolest proposal story I’ve ever heard!
“One of our paramount dates was one that Taylor planned. We went to Asheville to go stargazing. Taylor had bought a telescope and picked a place and downloaded an app to tell us where the stars were. We had such an adventure on this date and it was Benjamin’s favorite memory to recreate for the proposal. So Benjamin enlisted the help of some friends at Roper Mountain Science Center in Greenville to bring the stars out in daylight. Roper Mountain has a planetarium that we had been wanting to see for over a year, but the planetarium had been closed for over 6 months for renovations. Under the ruse of the planetariums grand reopening, Benjamin told Taylor that they were invited to see a special demonstration of the newly renovated facility. Taylor was a little concerned when we drove into the parking lot and no one was there, but Benjamin kept pressing on to the planetarium to see “if he had gotten the date wrong.” In the lobby of the planetarium, they found a Roper Mountain employee that said the presentation was on another day, but he was getting ready to test some demos. He invited us to stay for the tests. We got to see the nights sky, the 2017 eclipse, and a “special presentation.” Benjamin had prepared a video slideshow of pictures from before and during their relationship. Taylor started to realize that something was up–or something better be up! After the video Benjamin proposed–on both knees! And Taylor said yes!”
After starting our session baking cookies and sitting by the fire we went to Due South Roasters coffee house at Taylors Mill. The coffee was incredible and the staff there was so helpful- I definitely have to go back soon!
Taylor and Benjamin’s wedding is actually coming up in February and I’m stoked to see them get married! They such a sweet and fun couple – absolutely perfect for each other!
